28 weeks pregnant: Fast facts
Your baby is about the size of a large eggplant: 2 1/4 lbs and almost 15 inches long.
Eyesight is now so developed that your baby may be able to see light filtering through your womb. Your baby is adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
Pain in the pelvis or lower back is common during pregnancy. Physical therapy, modifying how you move, resting, pillows, and maternity belts can help. Any time you have pain during pregnancy, tell your provider.
It's best to avoid flying – or any travel far from home – in your final month, because you can go into labor at any time. Some airlines won't let you on board if you're due within 30 days.
Your provider may recommend spending time each day counting your baby's kicks. There are lots of ways to do these "kick counts," so ask for instructions.
